Where every Bidvana listing starts: on a shelf, with a label, waiting for an inspector.

As of this week, bidvana.com is open to everyone in the Charlotte area. If you have been following along, thank you for your patience. If you just found us, welcome. Here is what we built, why we built it here, and what to expect in the first few weeks.

What Bidvana is

We buy returns and overstock from major retailers by the truckload, through the same liquidation channels resellers use (how that market works is its own article). Then we do the part most of them skip. The short version of the pipeline:

  1. Buy the truckload

Returns and overstock from major retailers, bought in bulk so the per-item price is low before we have done anything.

  2. Open every box

Each unit is unpacked, checked against its manifest and photographed. The photos on a listing are of the exact unit you will receive, not a stock image.

  3. Inspect and score

A technician scores five condition facets: cosmetic, functional, completeness, cleanliness and packaging. The scores, the inspector’s notes and photos of anything worth noting go on the listing.

  4. Price against real retail

The item’s current retail price, not an inflated list price, comes down according to its category and those five scores. One unit, one price, and you can see how it was built.

  5. Deliver it

Every order ships to your door across the Charlotte area within 3 business days with tracking. No pickup counter, no appointment, no line.

Why Charlotte

Because it is home, and because it is exactly the kind of city this works in. Charlotte is one of the fastest-growing big metros in the country, full of people setting up new homes who do not see why a vacuum should cost full price. It also sits within a day’s drive of the distribution centers where returns pile up, which keeps our costs down and the catalog moving.

Starting in one city also lets us do this properly. One warehouse, one delivery area, one team that handles every item from the truck to your doorstep. When something goes wrong, the person who answers your email can walk over and look at the unit. We would rather be great in Charlotte than average in ten cities.

What you will find today

  • A catalog opening in batches. Items marked Coming soon are in our warehouse awaiting inspection. They are listed with their price and details, and the buy buttons turn on once a technician has been through them. Press Request Inspection on one and it moves up our queue; it can take up to 24 hours. The price does not go up after inspection. More in Why some items say Coming soon.
  • Fixed prices and offers. Buy at the listed price, or make one offer per item. A person on our team reads it and answers.
  • An inspection report on every inspected unit. Photos of the exact unit you will receive, the five facet scores and the inspector’s notes, in plain language.
  • Bidvana Rewards. One point per dollar on eligible purchases, 100 points is $1 in store credit, included with every free account. How to get the most from it.
  • A 3-day condition guarantee. If an item is not as described, tell us within 3 days of delivery for a full refund. A unit with a major fault or a missing core part is marked Final sale before checkout, so there are no surprises.

How the soft launch works

We are releasing the catalog a batch at a time rather than all at once, so the first orders get the attention they deserve. Everything we own is browsable from day one, with its price and product details. What is not there yet, on the items marked Coming soon, is the part only an inspector can write: the condition report and the photos of that specific unit.

Two buttons let you shape the order we work in. Save item keeps a listing in your account, where you can see when it goes on sale. Request Inspection asks us to open that unit next, and the queue is ordered by exactly those requests. The price you see on a Coming soon item will not rise after inspection. It may come down if the unit turns out to be in worse shape than the manifest claimed, and in that case the lower price is what you pay.

What is next

  • More of the catalog going on sale each week as inspections finish.
  • Scheduled price drops, starting November 2026: some listings will fall in price on a published schedule, and you can set an alert and buy when the number suits you.
  • A wider delivery area. If you are outside it today, leave your email on the delivery area page and we will tell you when we reach you.
  • More writing here: guides to the shop, and the occasional argument about how this industry should work.

A few things we promise

  • The photos are of the unit you get. Never a stock image standing in for the real thing.
  • The retail comparison is real. The crossed-out price is what the item sells for at retail today, refreshed every few days, not a list price nobody pays.
  • No invented urgency. If a listing says “In 2 other carts”, two other people have it in their cart. If there is nothing to report, it says nothing.
  • Final sale is always for a stated reason. A major fault, a crack or a missing core part, named on the listing before you buy.
  • A person answers. Email support and a human on this team reads it.

How you can help

Shop, and tell a neighbor. If you spot a mistake in a listing, send it to support@bidvana.com: we correct verified errors and award Bidvana points for the catch. If you are new to all of this, the guide to finding the good stuff is a five-minute tour of the shop. We read every message, and in these first weeks especially, we want to hear what is confusing, what is missing and what you wish we sold.

  • Most local liquidation is pickup only: a few days’ window, by appointment, at a warehouse on the edge of town. We added up what that costs you. Then we built the opposite.
